the heavier the gauge its basically accpeted that it will be slightly harder to play, as in fret and bend, but the sound gets fuller and fuller as you go up. i use mediums or heavies because i play agressively and theyre less likely to buzz

don't use heavy guage strings unless you want your guitar to warp. Medium is best for volume and sustain.

12's = best for factory settings in general. like jbilly said, if you go any higher, get your guitar set for them.

thats absurd. any even have decently made guitar is built to withstand the pressure strings put on them and then some. sure a jasmine is gonna get a little bent outta shape if you strap some heavies on, but not a real guitar.

i like light, you get good bends and they are feally easy to get dave style mutes from

I started using mediums about 6 months ago because I was breaking too many strings and I couldnt afford to do that. I dont know If I will ever go back to lights. The sound differance is amazing and I can still bend and mute very well.

I've used both mediums and lights and can't tell mich of a difference. Lately I've been going for the elixir nanoweb lights though, they are pretty sweet

I just got some Martin Custom lights. Never used another string except Elixirs so hopefully it'll work out.
