Favorite non-DMB songs to play?

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Favorite non-DMB songs to play?

Post by Rick_E »

Of the top of your head, what are your personal favorites to play? I'd have to say that, for the moment, mine are:

1. Sour Girl - Stone Temple Pilots
2. Earth Jam - Bela Fleck ( CRAZY, CRAZY, CRAZY)
3. Everything You've Done Wrong - Sloan
4. No Such Thing - John Mayer
5. Stuck In The Middle - Steeler's Wheel

Also if you would just humor me and go have a listen to one of my guitarist's other projects you'll love it i'm sure. Go to http://www.stuckonsaturn.com and listen to a couple of tunes. Let me know what you think.

Oh Jesus, Santeria. LOL. I used to love to play that tune but we overplayed it so much that if I told the guys if we play it one more time i'd shoot myself. We compromised and incorporated it into a medly so i'm only tortured for a couple of measures. OH!!! And if I have to play Your Body Is A Wonderland again i'll burn my bass on stage. LOL!!! The crowds love it but I value my sanity more :?

Hrmmm...I've always loved playing Incubus' Battlestar Scralatchica. So much room for variations...yet the line itself it ridiculously solid. Also a big fan of Dream Theater's Peruvian Skies...epscially with the Have a Cigar interlude and the Enter Sandman outro...so much fun to play with.

Of course, I also love playing all the junk I write. But it's 99% junk anyways. ;)

Shakedowen St. is the best song IVe ever heard, I could listen to that song over and over and still ove it and still ove to play it. The bassline is classic! 8)

Can any of you really say that you can play any flecktones stuff? Maybe big Country, but Earth Jam. Nah I don't think so.

Amen to No Such Thing,
Love Light - Dead
Bats in the Belfry - Dispatch
Cavern and Tweezer - phish
Empty Pages - Traffic
One Angry Dwarf 200 Solemn Faces of You - Ben Folds Five
Hangin Around - Counting Crows
Last Chance to Trance Dance - MMw

I play this last one on stand up. It's so fun.

and anything Funky as well.

Uhh that song was on Friday Afternoon in the Universe. Is that what you meant? I think they have a greatest hits collection out called Last Chance to Trance Dance though, so maybe you are right.

Anyways, yeah it's an awesome to jam out on, and since I just learned to play stand up bass this year that's how I spend a lot of time in orchestra, playing MMW songs with my friend.

Truuuuuuuuue dat. I love Bubble House, that song pumps me up. I jam with some kids, and we cover that song and push the tempo so much, it's insane, my fingers nearly bleed at the end. On my right hand, seeing as how I'm playing bass.
