Yeah, so we've all seen those people that have really crappy singing voices but love to sing. They're annoying. I know my voice sucks and I dont want to be "that guy".
I really hate to hear myself sing anything. You guys know any tips (besides not quitting your day job) or anything to make things better? What should a singer do that most people ignore?
Just kinda curious as to what insights you guys might have on the subject. I'm not planning on singing for a living or anything like that. Just thought it'd be worth it to put a little more effort into it as a courtesy to other people's sanity
PS: No I'm not posting any recordings, I'd never hear the end of it
I have been continually trying to improve my singing over the past year or so and the results are dramatic. I'm not near where I want to be, but I'm miles away from what I was when I first recorded my voice.
So yes, practice and breathe from the gut. It ain't going to happen overnight, but if you're a guitarist you already know this.
What you can do is maybe take one or two lessons from a professional and just get them to tell you exactly what you need to focus on and improve. That way you'll have somebody who knows exactly what they're doing tell you what you specifically need. Even though you dont plan to be a professional singer, what you'll learn will stay with you for your entire life.
Another thing thats important is to find your style and your range. If you find you're singing songs where you can't hit the notes because they're too high or too low, don't sing them yet. Sing songs where you're comfortable singing and as you sing more your range will get wider and eventually, with confidence, you'll be able to hit the high and low notes too.
if you can afford it, take lessions. the voice is musical instrment, some people have it naturally, some have to work very hard but it comes.
Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"
I did a Vocals tip thread a little back, check it out...
durh, it's even on the front page...
