I saw it a long, long time ago, when I was just a wee lad, and don't remember much about it. The Bruce Springsteen song was really good, and I remembered wondering why Forrest Gump was dancing with the guy from Perfect Strangers.

I don't even know if that's the guy, it reminded me of him, though.

sticksANDstrings wrote:First off I wana say that your guitar skills are somewhat advanced. Your guitar playing is very close to dave's. The only thing you need to work on is your singing. Don't take this the wrong way but U SOUND LIKE A GIRL!!!! Dave does not sing anything like what your interpretations are. I'm sorry to put it so harshly but it is the truth. I'm not saying that your style of singing is bad but if you are going for the imitation of David J. Matthews for God's sake PUT SOME DAMN SOUL IN YOUR VOICE!!!! PLEASE!!!!!......Oh, and by the way I am the black baby jesus.....thank you and goodnight.....
I'd just like to say a few words here. first of all, I'm glad you havn't heard my dave covers that I put up, cause I sound much more "like a girl" than Jason. Secondly, he hit the notes and was able to sing and play them at the same time with great timing and rhythm. Thirdly, I agree that Dave's voice was "weaker" back in the early 90's than it is now - the Rutebega sessions and whatnot - even the Warehouse from the Recently album was "girlish" but I still love it. Fourthly, putting soul into your voice is not as easy as bellowing out at the top of your lungs. It takes practice to be able to control the volume and to develop texture in your voice (reminds of Austin Powers after being unfrozen - "I'm having difficulty controlling the VOLUME OF MY VOICE !!!) :D anyway, that's all I have to say. (for now) :)

Ken

I support this post.

looking back now, I should've let this one slide, but hey what can you do. I don't mind people posting what they really think as long as they're prepared for others posting what they really think about what they said, I think that's our right. anyway, I've been away from a computer for quite awhile so I'm gonna be browsing the forums for awhile, and be checkin' out the new tabs and stuff.

seriously Gcom, all bullshit aside...I would like to hear some of your playing...and singing if you are up for it...It seems to me that critiquing is a thing you like to do...is that accurate? I would like to hear what kind of a musician you are and hear some of your skill...I'm sure a lot of people would be interested to hear more covers than just mine over and over again...granted that I don't have a lot to do down hear in texas during the day, but it really doesnt take that much time and effort to record something and put it out on the net...I think much more people should start doing it...anyone else feel the same?

So what do you say Gcom?

It doesnt have to be just Dave either(preferably)...but anything you feel comfortable playing...
