Some Devil accurate tab

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Some Devil accurate tab

Post by Ranting Thespian »

I have been working on a tab for this. I have looked at others, but none that were dead on. I have been working and working, listening over and over. I think I got it now! Tell me what you guys think. Oh, and here's a quick clip of what it sounds like on acoustic . . .

http://www.angelfire.com/folk/singer-so ... _devil.mp3

And, here's the tab, tell me what you guys think (and you too jkanter :-D )

Code: Select all

-----------------
 Some Devil - DM
-----------------
There is varition in here that sounds random. Just a pluck of a
Different note or two, or an extram stum of a chord. This is basicly
wat he is playing.

Verse
e----------------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------------
G------7/8--7/8-\6--6----6--6--4------&4-&2----------------------------
D------7/9--7/9-\7--7----7--7--6------&6-&4----------5-----5/7-----7---
A-------------------------------------------------2--2--2--5/7-------7-
E--*7-------------------------------0----------3-----3----------5------
*= This note is lower on the baritone, but this is as low as you can go
with standard tuning
&= this is played very quietly at parts, and sometimes not heard at all

Chorus
e----------------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------------
G----------------------------------------------------------------------
D-----4--7--4------------4-p2-------2-p0--------*0---------------------
A--5-------------4----2----------0------------------&*4----------------
E-------------------------------------------3---*3--&*5----------------
* = picked randomly and softly sometimes
& = not played when ending the chorus

I tried out that tab, many times. It didn't sound right at all. If you listen very carfully, he doesn't play many high notes that are in that tab. Listen to them carefully. I played the verse and chorus over over 100 times each. That tab really doesn't sound right at all. Nothing agains the tabber or anything, but I am just saying I am very sure my tab is more correct than that one.

Update: I am listening to it right now, and that tab leaves out 2 chords in the verse after you pluck the bass E open. It also leaves out the run up on the bass notes during the chorus. Also, there are certain slides that are missing on it too.

I went over that whole tab again. It's very off, very.

I hope I am not sounding like I am putting down people. When I started tabbing songs, for a year, they were all almost wrong. I have just done it so many times for a site I gave up because of dmbtabs.com was taken over by jkanter. There are many notes, slides, chords, that are not there that are easily heard listening to it closely.

Again, I hope Iam not coming off as a jackass. I am being a little blunt, and I am sorry if it comes off badly, just understand I didn't intend it to be.

it sounds damn near perfect...

one suggestion i would make, and a very tiny one is, on the verse:

Code: Select all

Verse
e------------------------------------------------------------------------
B------------------------------------------------------------------------
G------7/8--7/8-\6--6------6--6--4------&4-&2----------------------------
D------7/9--7/9-\7--7------7--7--6------&6-&4----------5-----5/7-----7---
A---------------------------------------------------2--2--2--5/7-------7-
E--*7------------------*7-------------0----------3-----3----------5------
*= This note is lower on the baritone, but this is as low as you can go
with standard tuning
&= this is played very quietly at parts, and sometimes not heard at all
he hits that extra "7" on the E string ever so quietly at the beginning of the song, and it seems to be randomly throughout the song...it's hard to tell when he's singing, but the very first time, it's there.

nice work. :)
