I love the OSW intro. I wish one of my friends took up sax again because that's such an awesome intro to jam on. Does Dave fingerpick or strum single notes ala The Stone live? I can't imagine how hard that must be picking individual notes with a pick, let alone strumming, I just use my fingers.

I rarely ever use a pick for anything come to think of it. The only time I use one is when I force myself to learn something with it. Normally I just strum, pickless, for everything from Billies to Warehouse, etc. But for stuff like this I pick with my thumb and index finger. Really makes me feel like an amateur  . Which is fine, only been playing 9 months. Can't imagine trying to use a pick on this intro though.

An ameture for not using a pick? Most of my guitar player friends can't finger pick for their life! I recommend all begining guitarists to not use a pick. The pick is a crutch, I say, only really needed for going really fast, or fast alternate picking (and still you can go around it). I even impressed my dad's good friend who plays guitar by just fingerpicking a song, and he's over 40.

Also, 80% of the time, TIM REYNOLDS doesn't use a pick. Also, David Grey has said how is starting to like the sound of finger picking and strumming than with a pick. Keep fingerpicking. Playing with a pick takes no time at all.

Dave completely fucked it up at the gorge. His guitar crapped out or something.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

heh. just keep at it. start out slow and just work on memorizing it and once you can play it without needing to look at the tab, speed up. once you get it down, it's pretty easy, and i can do it fingerpicking or just with my thumb alone. :)
