First open mic nite.....

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Try playing while reading. It will help you to get down the doing more than one thing at a time thing.
wow i can sing and play at the same time because there's at least some similarity like certain words being sang when you hit certain note and that helps you time when to sing as you play but i can't imagine just reading something completely different and playing at the same time
that just shows you need to practice more. with time and practice you'll be able to. once you can do that, you'll be able to sing and play at the same time.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": Dr. Peter Venkman: I make it a rule never to get involved with possessed people. Actually it's more of a guideline than a rule.

i used to practice by talking to a girl on the phone while playing. you pass the test when they don't scream "WHY AREN'T YOU TALKING TO ME?! PUT DOWN THE GUITAR!!"

the last open mic I played

`Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper (with a friend standing next to me playing cowbell)
`Coldplay - Don't Panic
`Hanson - Mmmbop (never seen so many drunk girls singing before, they love it)
`Eddie Money - Take Me Home Tonight

I'm doing another open mic with the same friend this Thursday, and we're doing

`Dispatch - The General
`The Outfield - Your Love
`Madonna - Holiday (blended with a verse from Notorious BIG's 'Juicy')
`Elton John - Tiny Dancer

and for those of you who liked the videos from the first open mic, I will have new ones up for next weekend. anyways hoped this gave you some ideas, drunk people like 80's songs (like Bon Jovi's 'Living on a Prayer') and ridiculous stuff (like Mmmbop).
