slimer--actually, yeah. I don't really know what I said tuck in for. Just keep your elbow at a 90 degree angle, and keep your wrist straight. Don't worry about where your elbow is.

ive been trying to learn jimi thing lately.. and im having alot of trouble with the barre chord hammers.. the first three of the song. my hammering finger always ends up muting the strings below it.. any tips on how to position my wrist/thumb/hand etc so i wont end up muting it?

I don't barre the whole fret if that helps you at all. I just barre the notes that are being played.

i have been trying that.. but still i cant seem to do the hammeron with my finger tip only with the flat part of my finger which ends up muting the strings below it.. sounds absolutley terrible.

You don't have to push down nearly as hard if you put pressure on your guitar inward with your elbow while playing. Just imagine hugging your guitar while playing it.

This will automatically make barring chords much easier on your fretting hand.

Also, make sure your barring finger is right on top of the fret. This works best for me. Hope this helps.
