However it's the music I like the most, acoustic rock, that's the hardest, I can play daves stuff but I can't make up my own tunes at all, hell I basically just steal Dave's chords and change em up a bit
What style(s) came most naturally to you?? Least naturally?

For me blues and bluegrass, don't know why, It's not even the type of music Im really into. I can play good blues/BG right off the top of my head, I just learned the basic scales and progressions and went from there. Timmy's style is easy for me too, It doesn't take too long to learn most of his stuff.

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

i like this idea. i play bass but im gonna respond anyway because i feel it applies. the first genre related stuff i learned was the 12-bar blues pattern and since then ive always felt i had a good feel for bluesy type stuff. therefore, if i had to identify a particular genre root in me, id say blues.
funk is something ive loved hearing but havent been able to be confident in my funkiness or whatever. i think i try to make it to complex.
jazz comes fairly easily to me and i love gettin into a little jazzy groove.
rock i think is a different story because so much is based from what guitar is being played with it.

Yeah, your jimmy thing cover was pretty sweet.jellyfish wrote:It's all hard for me cause I dont have any Rythym or mucial thory background. But I can play well enough to be in a band
Thats me as well. I'm finding i'm gonna have to learn some theory and get my notes down before i'm going to be able to write my own stuff. Lately i've be playing a lot of dave and tim, i've got dave style down pretty well. The beatles i thought were gonna take me in another direction but most of their songs are basic strumming and relative chords. So i'm having trouble learning a style that i'm not good atI can play daves stuff but I can't make up my own tunes at all, hell I basically just steal Dave's chords and change em up a bit

im not really sure what comes easy to me, i apporach everything pretty much the same... classical stuff actualy comes pretty easy to me, not the crazy stuff.. but the simple stuff
daves stuff came easy, mainly becuase i listened to his stuff religiously before i got into guitar, (hes the one that inspired me).... i cant solo for sh!t, but what my friend says are hard chord changes i can do for some reason... i guess some things just come natural to some and other things to others...

I was really attracted to various folk stylings. Especially when I write music. I love to write music using different worldly chord progressions and use unconventional time signatures. I have Jimmy Page, Paul Simon, and Richie Halens to thank for that. I like to write blues, but I feel it alone is slightly limited, so I combine it with those kinds of folk syles.
I am in lust with DADGAD and open G tunings. They're kindof a bitch to tune to cause I always break strings doing so, but you can do so much with them and create such beautiful pieces.
