Dave's Recording Microphone

Post by kjdenison »

What does Dave use in their studio to record his vocals? Their site has all the live equipment, but I'm interested in what they are using in their studio. What kind of Effects are they layering on his voice normally? Does anyone know where I could find this info? thanks!!

first off, DMBtabs, welcome to it, noone can say this enough. well, it is going to depend on what cd because that is going to vary by producer and studio. Email someone over on the main site and see if they can give you some sort of answer for a specific album or something... As time went on i'm sure their access to equipment improved. For instance, there was probably a huge differnce in equipment between "Crash" and the new "Stand Up" album. Regardless of what you guys thought of "Stand Up", the quality in the recording and editing was excelent.

I'm sure he has but i'm sure it's varried form time to time too, but neumann seems like a logical choice...

I don't know what kind they are, but if you were looking at getting some it's safe to say they probably cost big $$$.

I was figuring neumann as well. I wish they would post on their main site the equipment like they do on the road page. Kinda odd they don't.

I don't have my Stand Up DVD/CD combo disc, but there are a lot of shots of him singing vocals for tracks. You might be able to make out what the mic is from that. Otherwise, I don't think I have ever read what equipment they have used in the studio.

You can look at the Stand Up pics and try to figure it out but i can almost guarantee you that it was different equipment on each album. It's like asking the question "What Guitar does dave use?". It depends on the situation and time period...
