the flashy million notes a second is really getting old for me, i dont care if you can slap a bass so fast that your head explodes, most of that was mutted slaps anyways, i wanna hear some cool grooves.

Those are the Dream Theater. The bass player is John Myung.
All the players are great technically. Some of the songs are pretty cool too.
I developed a lot my guitar skills playing these guys songs...

I guess someone calls them the "The music mathematicians", cause they usually use complex and varying tempos...

actually its just dream theater. yes bass john myung, john petrucci, mike portnoy, jordan ruddess, and james labrie. i've been listening to them since 5th grade.
