Elixir strings

Post by tjmac66pc »

I just bought Elixir light guage strings, and must say the coating is phenomenal on these and they last double the time of regular strings...sliding is sooooooo easy and it's so much less strain on the fingers.... i strongly recommend these strings...they also come in medium and extra light, but the lights are perfect.... anyone else tried them out??

Yeah, I need to get my ass to the guitar store, I tried out those damn D'addario's cuz people on these boards praise them to and they suck. They sounded the way my regular elixirs sound after Ive had them on after a few weeks, and Ive had them on for like a month now so they really sound like shit.

elixir's seriously make your guitar sound like Dave's acoustics at a concert...i'm really impressed with'em... i'm a changed man forever i think!

are heavy's harder to press down and extra lights the easiest? trying to figure exactly the order in which they go....

i suspect you are speaking from memory because Elixir doesn't make "heavy guage" unless you mean "12 string heavy" which is actually the same as normal six string mediums. but from your post i don't think you meant this. so yeah no heavy's from elixir http://www.elixirstrings.com/documents/ ... e_list.pdf

heavy strings (14's) are quite uncommon.

heavier strings are at a higher tension on your guitar. this means you have to push down harder on the string to touch it to the fret. it also means that you have to bend the string more to fret so you can go sharp by shanging to too heavy of a guage. changing guages can cause damage to a guitar that is not set up to take the extra tension.

i've never seen a heavy set with 14's, i thought 14's were customed

and do you know of any acoustic string sets that are sold with a normal 13 gauge but with a .60 low e string, i want some fatter bass :D

yeah buddy, just go to the guitar store and ask for single strings. elixir makes a .059 and d'addario seems to make every guage you could ever imagine.
