some solo suggestions

Got sick a day or two ago so I'm staying in tonight

. Anyways, I'm sitting around playing guitar and my roommate (who is really good) showed me a little with positions and modes the other day. I've been playing through (and trying to memorize) those, and I've got most of em down... Anyways, any suggestions on some good solos on an acoustic to begin learning? Something not too easy, but also not too hard.

That's good, that's good.

I would first learn the major, minor, and pentatonic scales.
Secondly, I'd memorize the fretboard. Knowing those simple scales and the fretboard, you can solo the hell out of any song.

Looking past there, I'd learn the 7 major modes..Ionian, Dorian, etc etc, and more advanced scales.

For chords, once you learn the scales, you'll begin to see how chords are structured and you'll be able to form them very easily.

That's how I learned, and it has worked very well. Enjoy the theory!

I always practice with a metronome wether it's a song or just practicing scales. I also can't emphasise enough that you learn which scales go with which chords and understand how each scale is made up with respect to the chord.

You wanted to learn some solos, try miles davies trumpet solos! They are freakin' amazing! If you want dmb stuff, try timmy's solo for #41 on L@LL, it's not too hard!
