the receipt checking thing is annoying, but you gotta see it from their perspective. if someone wants to "try and amp" and brings in their shitty mexi-fender, swaps it with a nice american fender, and walks out the door, GC isn't in too hot of a spot. i think it's alright given their very generous try-before-you-buy policy. for the most part they are very nice when i'm in there, but it doesn't hurt to have something in mind when you go in, or you will be bombarded with annoying questions.

and also, the address thing just flat out annoys me. i went to buy a couple of picks, totalling no more than 2 dollars, and i spent five minutes just giving him name, address, zip, home and work phone etc :roll: :roll:

eh, if you are looking to buy something specific it might be worth the drive...especially if you are comparing 5 or 6 different items. GC will most likely have everything you're considering, and they will let you try it, at your convenience, for basically as long as you want.

I understand were they are coming from but other guitar stores in my area don't do it. That's fine but I will not go there to buy anything from them again.

I think he doesn't like the address/phone number thing. But even that isn't a big deal...if you're using a credit card, they'll know it anyway, and if you're not, then you're name's John Smith, 111 Main.

i like it because they also dont push u to buy other shit... i went to someplace looking for a martin and the guy was like u should buy a low end seagulll and i was like well i want a martin and he was like no ill go get u a seagull... it was gay

i think they both have ups and downs...the only real downside to gc is that the stuff might be lightly used and the selection isn't too hot, but the selection at a local store isn't going to be any better.

unless i want to support a particular person in the business i know that has given me a hand before, i'm going to gc or another big chain.

It's the combo of having to give my address, phone number and having to wait for someone to check my receipt after I pay for something. There are plenty of other places that I don't have to go through that process that I would rather give my business to.

No I usually go to the Guitar Shop or Professional Music Center. Didn't Last Chance morph into Professional Music Center?

b-frost, Last Chance is/was a guitar shop in the Des Moines area.
