yes, i would like it alot more if the lyrics werent so cheesy...i think its a good lil riff...

i still dont mind the song, i try to block out the lyrics

I like it. New lyrics would ruin it for me really... I can't really dislike it because everytime i hear the song it makes me think of my girlfriend in my car when we were going to prom last year... The CD had just come out right before prom and she and I both love dave, and I just remember putting the CD in on the way to prom and her smile... and she was singing along with dreamgirl and stuff....

Sorry I'm getting all corny and stuff here, I'll stop. The song has stuff attached to it for me so I can't really say I would want to change it. It wouldn't be as big a deal but my girlfriend and I are doing the long distance thing in college so... Anything that reminds me of good times with her I sort of keep close. Dreamgirl happens to be one of those things that remind me of good times with her.

EDIT: I think some of that attachment to that memory comes from the music though too, but i think changing the lyrics would still change that effect it has on me.

its not as though dave is about to change the lyrics now. a lot of dave's lyrics are cheasy but thats what makes them so cool. look at crash...im the king of the castle.....cheasy but i love it

yes but thats in the outro to the song, unlike dreamgirls which contains shitty lyrics throughout the whole thing.

yeah it was talked about in some interviews while they were recording and before the cd came out. even on the stand up website interviews dave said and I quote, "I'm just singing whatever comes to mind, and thats fun because it makes me sing in different places."

And, why don't you do that in your spare time if you are doing it for fun. Why dont you Mr. Matthews, have fun with your new singing style, perfect it, then market it and sell it. Not, have fun, record, sell.

He knows at this point people will buy his shit regardless.... he's on the way to becoming a sell-out. [in the musical sense, they already sold out in all other areas]

This is what I have been saying ever since Stand Up came out and I'm being accused of being a downer when its the truth that people don't want to hear. They know that they can sell just as many CD's as they did with BTCS by doing half the work. So they try to spin it off as doing something new and experimental when in actuality they are half-assing it and making a very quick buck. They have become so complacent as of late, I can't stand it. I don't even blame Batson for any of this, they are the ones who chose him. The blame rests with the band and the fact that they don't try anymore.

In addition, who makes good albums in two or three months? I can see if you had the material and ideas already intact, but as you said, they are going into the studio barefoot. I guess you and I's assumption that they are selling out creativley will be tested on this next album release.

It's fucking pathetic that the band I loved for the past 10+ years made an album which doesn't have one SOLID song on it.

I don't think it's the actual words as much as how the words are sung.

"I'm the king of the castle, you're the dirty rascal" looks cheesy on paper, but when it's sung live it's very uplifting and it propels the song forward to the climactic finish before the end.

"I would dig a hole all the way to china, unless of course i was there, then i'd dig my way home" is sung awkwardly. It doesn't flow, it sounds like dave is stumbling and trying to talk his way out of something, sort of, if that makes sense. like "i would dig a hole all the way to china... (..wtf, where was i going with this?) uhhh oh um unless of course i was there... then i'd... y'know.. dig my way home....
