Adding a body/lower neck-mounted strap bolt?

Post by brian_ok »

Okay, I'm looking at a Tak EG540SC, a perfect guitar as far as I'm concerned. However, there is no strap bolt on the body-meaning that I'll have to tie the strap at the headstock, similar to many acoustics. I just don't like the feel of that method of strapping, though.

So I want to put one of these:

on the guitar. (Drill the hole, install the bolt.)

1. Would this damage the guitar if done correctly?

2. How would I do this correctly?

3. Ever done it? Comments/warnings?

Thanks a lot, ~Brian

1. If done properly it won't damage the guitar.
2. Here is a link with some instructions.

3. I've never done it, I paid 7$ to have this done when I was having some other stuff done to my guitar.

Thanks to both of you for answering...for $7, I'll just take this in and have it done professionally.
