I've always played it with a pick...because I need a pick to play the rest of the song. But it's easier to fingerpick...hmm...yeah...I guess both ways are ok.

I don't know, but it's all single notes one at one time, so you can do it both ways. You just get a slightly harsher tone with the pick.
