captin, so much to say and two step?

people who are saying these are the easyest dave songs are either
1) confused
2) playing them wrong
3) or more likely, showing off and saying that they think medium difficulty songs are the easyst.

when songs like where are you going, big eyed fish and too high exist..........?

Seriously, those were near impossible to play when I was first starting on the guitar.

Two Step is easy once you get comfortable with the rhythm, which most people should be able to do in a day or two. It's like 3 or 4 chord shapes, man. It was one of the first DMB songs I ever learned, right after Halloween.

And if you cheat that stretch in Captain it has like 8 chord shapes. Pretty easy.

So Much To Say is a bit harder but not much. Start slow, put the parts together and in 2 or 3 days you should be able to play it well enough for any DMB fan to recognize.

The hardest part when you're starting isn't actually learning the songs, it's maintaining your patience long enough to learn the song and not getting frustrated when it doesn't sound just like Dave or Hendrix or whomever from the start. You gotta be patient and just practice and learn.

That is the trap many people fall into, trying to do it like dave does. As long as the song sounds good to ME, that is the way I play it.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

What is the cheat stretch?

While some of the songs people are listing may be easy for them as far as the difficulty of dave songs go they are not that easy. If you were trying to show someone how to play Dave sons who was at a low level you certainly wouldn't show them some of the sons mentioned.

Easy songs: Proudest Monkey, Halloween, Lie in Our Graves, Bartender, Don't Drink the Water, Pig, Big Eyed Fish

The stretch cheat is instead of playing this:

Code: Select all

E:---------
B:-4-------
G:-1----4--
D:-2----1--
A:-4----2--
E:------4--
You play this:

Code: Select all

E:---------
B:-4-------
G:-x----4--
D:-2----x--
A:-4----2--
E:------4--
It loses a little something, but it works. The same cheat works for the stretch in #41.
