I have a similar situation:

My friend's been playing for about 2 years and I just got my guitar in April and already, and I havnt even had one lesson, Im almost as good as he is. He thinks he's the best ever and it pisses me the hell off!

:D i dont know your situation, but be careful, sometimes guys are really really good and they don't show it till you challenge them, then they make you look stupid. just watching me and my roomie you would think that im just as good as he is. ive been playing for less than 2 years, he's been playing for six. but if we started challenging each other, he'd whip my ass.
