Trying to choose an electric guitar..help

Post by DSeibel »

Guys

I'm starting to shop around for an electric guitar. I really like Strats but I don't like the fact that most if not all (unless ordered special) have a tremelo system...which I would never use, and I hear contributes to tuning issues. I'm also a big fan of the Les Paul guitars, but can't afford a Gibson so I was looking at this one...

Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus with Humbuckers. About $550 CDN compared to the Gibson Standard at about $1500. I understand the epiphone is a very good alternative to the real thing...unlike the Squire Strats.

For an Amp I'm looking at the Marshal MG30DFX, $300 CDN.

Any suggestions, guidance, recomendations would be greatly appretiated.

Thx

Dave

This is what I play:

$500-600 US

More crunch than tone, but I love it.

Have you checked out the Musician's Gear Forum?

Are you talking about a locking trem, cause alot of fenders dont come with that unless you pay alot more. Id go with a standard bridge on a strat cause even in time you may want to use the bar a little to add some spice to your playing.

The only time a tremolo will effect the tuning...is if you actually use it. If you dont use it, there is no issue.

My suggestion is to go with a mexi-strat. They are very good for the money, the standard pickups are fine as is, but you can always change them easily.
