SO i've been looking into buying a Larrivee. I want something that has the ability to add deep bass to the sound of the guitar (which is where I end up doing to majority of my playing). I hate guitars that sound "tinny and and shallow". Larrivee's are expensive as hell, but I keep coming up with thier Parlor models. The name alone seems to indicate a small sound. Does anyone have any experience with parlors?
Otherwise, and suggestions?

Usually not as bass-y. Of course parlor guitars were meant to be played without amplification in the "old days" - but you'd really have to hear it first. You may not like the size. I play an 000 (orchestra size) guitar and it projects fine but I do miss the size and full bodied boom of a dreadnought

I have only played one larrivee and it was magical, I am a martin fan and i felt right at home with this beauty in my lap. I would not hesitate to buy one or reccomend one to a friend of close relative. But with saying that, ive only played one. Maybe that was just a really well built one or something.

If you are looking for bass the parlor isn't the way to go. Larrivee's are great guitars(I have two) and comparitevly speaking they aren't expensive when you look at the kind of dough you're gonna have to throw down to get a Martin or Taylor with similar features. My recommendation is to look at their -03 series. I would stick with a Dreadnought or Larrivee's L-body if you are looking for bass, and I would lean toward rosewood for the bass as well. If you don't have any qualms about buying over the internet I recommend going through http://www.guitaradoptions.com as they tend to have the best prices on larrivees. You'll have to email them for their lowest price, what they list on the website is the minimum they are allowed to advertise for but they sell for less. I don't know if you are wanting any electronics but I know you can get a D03-R/L-03R for well under $1k.
