Honestly, I think how much a strings squeek depends a lot on the player. I'm using a set of D'Addario lights and can't recall any squeeking.
Also, I dislike elixirs

yeah sometimes they are too slippery. lately i have on my guitar EXP lights and an Elixer .056 low E string. and that is working really really well. but i just had an extra medium elixir low E so maybe they sell them as individual strings but i m not gonna hold my breath.
Elixirs are way too slippery in my opinion, though i am used to playing d'addario medium bluegrass strings, which i admit squeak like hell. how are the EXP's though? i heard dave was using those now...not that that means anything, but the ad caught my eye.
well guys thanks for all your imput on the subject. i think i will give them a shot though, just to try them out and see how they work for me. i usually play with d'darios(sp) but i dont know i just wanted to see how they worked with my guitar. but thanks again! chuck
elixirs are too slick for me... generally i dont have anything against regular ol' phosphor bronzes, and to be honest ive tried about 10 different brands and can barely tell the difference between any of them... my favorites are the d'addario exp's mediums or lights, not as much squeak but not too slick

wow another bluegrass guage user. awesome. i used to use those religiously untill the were just too hard to find. now on my standard guitar i am using d'addario EXP lights and an elixir .056 on the low E. just slick enough for great boomy base slides and grippy enough for normal chords and bending notes. i found single elixer strings for like 2.50 on the net. plus i got a couple low E strings lying around now (like i'll ever break a low E string...)
Exp's are great.... i use the exp26 cause the lights are just tooo light.
Plus if you're lucky you get a bonus pack with a string case and an extra 1st and 2nd string.... They sound awesome and they last forever..

Oh yeah, I will
D'Addario strings are horrible!
i find it difficult to take you seriously with the way you like dean markley strings. i'd rather use fender acoustic strings and picks. yuck. i just don't like them at all. but i respect your passion as evidenced by all of your dean markley posts. (i am just messing with you, )
