the band is , in general, really humble

i'm sure they're all filthy rich. more so than most bands and musicians

the fact that they tour for really long, and have been doing it almost non-stop for 14 years probobly contributes a lot.

their fanbase is so massive that that alone will give them HUGE ticket sales and even HUGER album sales

I know a part of it, is that he owns the rights to everything. He owns the rights to all of his songs, not the record company, so he gets all the money coming from radio and whatever other people having to pay royalties.

he also makes money off of the clothing and stickers and stuff. most artists make more money off of clothing than they do album sales.

I willing to bet that a bulk of it is from touring. Commerce second. Albums third. Farming way, way, way last.

oh yea, by no means am i trying to say he makes more off of clothing and stickers than he does from tours. tours are def where his money comes from. just that, like you said, artists make more w/ clothes sells than album sells.

Yeah they're all definately filthy rich, and i love how they stay so humble. I mean theyve had huge grossing tours for years, and album sales, merchandise, all that junk. they stinky rich.

Because of him and the fact that from the beginning DMB has kept everything they create, sell, pitch and make in house they reap the benefits.

Extensive touring doesn't hurt the pockets either.

EDIT: Most bands do not make significant $$$ off of record sales no matter who the artist is, save for when it's an artist owned record company.
