Who can help with Watchtower??????

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Who can help with Watchtower??????

Post by CWMCALL »

Does anyone have a guitar only version of Watchtower that they can post? I have been trying like hell to figure out the chord changes and rhythm but I just cannot make it sound right...I have listened to every recording of it that I have (farm aid, ground works, listener supported, recently, etc....)

I know that it should be simple but for whatever reason I can't get it...

All advice and recordings are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Its basically just Am, G, and F. I just play around with those chords and do a little improv, especially to make it sound like the LS version, where he does just that.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

no offense, but this has to be one of the easiest songs there is. it is just Am, Am7/G, F, G which is how dylan does it. and dave plays it even easier like Am, G, F, G.

and the rhythm is like: doon dididit, doon dididit, doon dididit, doon doon dadidit. hope that helps but seriously the rhythm is a lot simpler than you are probably trying to make it.

I know it "should" be easy, but I'll be damned if I can make it sound "right". I am close but I just haven't been able to put it together...

Thanks for the advice and I'll keep workin on it.

also, if you want the live intro to how dave has been playing watchtower on the current tour, i'm 99% sure it's this:

e -------------------------------------------------------------------------1--
B ------/1---1-----------0------------/1--1--0-------------------------1---
G ---------------------0-------------------------0-------0-------------2----
D------/2----------2---------2--------------------0-------0----------3-----
A --0-------------------------------2----------------2---------------3------
E -----------------------------------3-------------------------0-----1-------

You'll have to get the timing down on your own, but it's obviously very relaxed and very slow and done by finger picking...let me know if you try it out and what you think...peace
