The one guitar

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

The one guitar

Post by Ranting Thespian »

I have never been able to find out the guitar dave used in the early years. The one I am talking about you can see him playing it in the WWYS video, and on a stand in the Ants Marching Video.

Also, do you notice the jumbo acoustic he plays in the Satellite video, on the rocks, is the same one he plays in the Stay video?

The ovation I have seen him play is blue or something like that.

Also, I looked at the video, it is definately not an ovation. It is a flat guitar. Not as skinny as the Chet, but is pretty slim.

It's an old style Chet, with a plastic 'ashtray' soundhole in it.

yeah, it's similar to the chet he has as a backup guitar in Listener Supported DVD. Just this one has a soundhole. He stopped using the Ovation after 93, I think.

I never have seen a SST with a sound hole. I wonder if it sounds any different than his normaly SST.

Ya, I didn't know they existed, which made me eliminate the Chet. and watching the wwys video, the back of the guitar looks curved to me, but i can't really tell. and he had multiple ovations in different colors.

I looked at many times, over and over. You can see the guitar is much closer to him than even a regular dreadnaught. I even looked at it again last night, and it is very close to his body. I am very sure it isn't an Ovation.

I always wondered what that guitar was behind dave on LS. When I first saw it, I thought it was a guitar in drop D for DDTW, but he never ever uses it.

The one in LS is just a wood-colored Chet..SST, I'm pretty sure. They also have a Suburst SST that is pretty nice that Dave used to use.

WWYS is a Chet Atkins SST Standard w/a plastic soundhole.

In the Satellite vid he's playing a Yamaha Country Jumbo CJ-818SB. Same in the Stay vid.
Peace,
