A lost Dave Song.... Forever?

Post by ForgottenThings »

Has anyone here ever heard "Kind Intentions"? It is an awesome song with awesome lyrics where the band really shines. I know of only 2 existing versions, the 1990 demos with 13 tracks, and a random 93' show. It can be compared to "Pay for what you get" with leroy playing awesome saxaphone over dave, and has the same feeling as the LWS "Raven" version. Oh and another thing, the timing of the song is incredible, harder than "Dreaming Tree" (probably why it isnt played anymore). I really wish Dave would play this song again. Its everything Dave was about in the beginning and could instantly be recognized by any DMB fan. Im thinking about going to a Dave and Tim show and in the quiet before the next song, shouting "KIND INTENTIONS!!!" just to see his reaction and if he still remembers how to play it. I cant advise where to get a copy of the song. I got mine from a friend.

Anyway, i wish Dave would bring back this song and if anyone has heard it or is interested in this lost song, give me feedback.

I've heard it. I have it somewhere on my hard drive. If I recall, it was from a soundsheck and is very good.

from 1994 soundcheck

lyrics

[From 2.5.94 soundcheck]
the sunset erase all again don't erasing
and no reason oh it won't go away
kindness riding all true

my love
and go away they
light all gone again all well
you better mean it well then
don’t you ever lay your hands on me again boy
unless you mean it well
unless you ride on me oh
why only away
i don’t see you same
see you all in the light
and why she won't ride
and pray there
be all this summer
we owe this moment
we owe this time rain
i see it
oh i lie here suffering
no way way
bye son

For anyone interested, here are the lyrics...

Kind Intentions

She said don't you ever lay your hands on me again boy
Unless you mean it well
I was always so kind intentions were good
You'll leave me, well
Nobody said where would you be without me
Without me
I'd be home alone
Yeah

Fall way back, ohh
Drive on way back to me, drive
Why notice me here alone
Find oh well I do grow again into me
Take me home
Lie as you may
You go send away

Watching roll way back to me, roll
Feeling here way back so low
Follow me home, why did you go
facing well alone on you should
Falling

Why, say
Drive all way where did they go
Faiths been so cold
Watch, you know nothing
Well, don't you believe
Find your way now
Say cold and

(regarding yelling requests) maybe if i was a drunk frat guy screaming "Play CRASH!!" or "WHAT WOULD YOU SAY!!!" but if he played a song he wrote that there are only 2 known copies of, my friend you would be a part of history. The pros outweigh the cons in this one

that's why it is annoying as shit, they dont take requests, they have a setlist written out, he probably wouldnt remember hwo to play it, he forgets alot of their older rarely played songs, tim wouldnt know it, and like I said, they have a setlist, they dont do requests.
yet, 100 times every show you hear some dick head screaming, "PLAY _________!!!!!!" thus ruining the taper next to him.
why dont you just wear a t-shirt that says "please play spotlight", i thihk that would be equally as effective.

im not trying to be a dick to you, it's just something i cant stand about d&t shows.

AMEN.

I've been to 3 shows in 3 separate years and the crowd keeps getting worse. In 97' the crowd was the best....99' more people knew him...crowd was ok but still pretty vocal.....03' the absolute worst.
