i agree with apps and the others who are saying family comes first, cuz no doubt it does. but do any of you find this a very similar situation to kobe buying his wife a 4 million dollar ring right after he had an affair with that woman? essentially, he came out first with his sorrys and all that and then, maybe as proof, maybe as just superficial-im-so-rich-i-can-buy-anyones-love, he bought her a ring. similar situation?

This thread just broke my "fucked up people" meter ...

Now I have to find a new one :(

If my dad cheated on my mom, hid money from us, and then tried to buy my forgiveness (a cheap ploy to get over what little guilt he has) I'd tell him to go fuck himself and we'll see him in court.

I have no problem writing off people like that. My stepdad cheated on my mom. If it weren't for my half-sister, I'd have nothing to do with him ever again.

Of course, he's found Jesus now, so apparently he doesn't need my forgiveness now.

My dad cheated on my mom which led to the divorce. 26 years after the divorce I still resent him for it. He tried to make up for it by buying me expensive things when I was younger, it worked but only temporarily.

In retrospect, Im glad he cheated on her. I have an awesome stepfather & my life would be completely different right now if he didn't cheat.

pretty much the same scenario w/ me. only i was only like 6 months old when my dad cheated so i've never known my parents together. i really don't hold it against him though. since i was so young it didnt effect me and mom has long since gotten over him so i'm cool w/ him. plus my step dad is really cool so i'm like you, i'm glad they aren't together. i could never imagine my dad screwing up now, or when i was in high school and saying i'm sorry, what can i buy you to fix this.

I completely agree with appfro, even though your dad did something awful, it doesn't mean you have to do something awful back(like being a guitar-whore). I understand that your'e angry(you have every right to be), but getting a guitar from him will probably only make things worse. Everytime you play the damn thing, you'll be thinking about what he did to your mom. I mean are you really only worth a $3000 guitar? c'mon man, don't take it.....work things out the right way(talking/fighting)-

hes right...you should get a bunch of guitars, effects, amps, chords, and other instruments too, a computer, laptop, recording studio and such.

if so I wouldnt judge him too hard, at that age it's a lot harder to understand these things and you are less spiteful towards the world.
