go up and down a penatonic scale adding 1-3 (or 1-3b chords depending on major or minor). and 1-5 chords as well. Don't just stick with a certain ocatve either. A great additive is sliding a 1-3-8 or a 1-5-8 chord from one note to another note in the same scale. Take my advice and run!
