Have yall seen that JTR/Love of my life video of a d&t show when santana came in as a guest?

it was really funny cause during love of my life santana was playing a slow and somewhat boring solo and then timmy comes in and just starts shredding...he outplayed santana sooo stinkin bad.

but overall id have to say i like santana's style better. tims solo stuff is too weird for me. but of course he compliments dave VERY well (alot better than santana would)

santana knows a few scales, and like you said on the JTR video santana was playing some slow spanish stuff that didnt fit, then tim busts out some crazy latin influence that was amazing. so santana isnt all that amazing.

This has been discussed here at DMBtabs in the past. I think we differ from them[ants] because "we" are mostly comprised of musicians who actually know the abilities of both performers.

i'm not exactly a musician, but ive been playing guitar long enough and watching the greats play guitar long enough to discern things like that.

People at ants are fucking retards!

Santana is a much cleaner guitarist than Tim. Tim is faster.

In terms of technical proficiency, Tim Reynolds is a far more accomplished player than Carlos Santana. But Carlos has the ear for tuneful, tasteful riffs

I laugh at this one!...

I think we are all a little impartial here because almost all DMB fans are gonna pick Tim over Santana, and rightfully so since it seemed like he was everywhere before they had their falling out. I personally think Santana is simply a better guitarist. Tim fits great with DMB, but Santana can pull off just about anything. Key word: just about.

Do these peolpe realize that Tim plays whatever the fuck he feels like whenever the hell he feels like. All his stuff is complete improv and varies. Santana imo, isn't all he's cracked up to be!
