Could you imagine the band's reaction if at Red Rocks, the entire audience chanted

I'm sure that would piss off the band quite a bit.

Great find Nitro. That was a great read and pretty much summed up all my feelings on the album and whatnot. It's funny cause I don't disagree with a single thing in there.

That part about the guitar riffs completely echoes what i've been thinking.

in a way, i see where the band is coming from. After busting their asses to get perfection 3 times in a row with lillywhite, i'd want a chance to relax too. But on the other hand, it really does just come down to laziness. I don't know why the band is still trying to "find their sound" and why they think they did with stand up. You found your sound with BTCS! HENCE... everything BTCS turned out to be in the eyes of fans.

To add to the laziness of the band thing, i think that dave needs to go back to writing songs on his own. Dave's initial fertile writing period back in charlottesville created the basis of what dmb used to be; what made us fall in love with this band. He's used up his supply, and i think he's daunted by the task of trying to top that reserve on his own, so he seeks help from everyone else.

i believe it would cause the band to look at each other & become perplexed...

i don't think the band has any clue as to how bad SU is..

Some of the songs are good, and then some of the other songs don't sound finished, and they rushed to meet a deadline

It would be cool tho.. if they got Bela & Tim back into the studio with them & put Batson in his place

Cuz I think Dave really looks up to Tim (or down.. )

My 2 cents

i agree with most of the article

BUT....

Busted Stuff IS a great album, to me it stands tall with the first 3. Everyday had hit songs and miss songs.

Stand Up....well Stand Up is absolutely terrible.

No new band could has released this CD as their first and be a hit band. American Baby might make a new band a one-hit wonder...maybe...

The band can still make great songs...Hello Again, Joy Ride, Sugar Will, Crazy Easy, and the often over-looked Loving Wings have had the DMB quality and could have been in the class of their top songs.

The electric clapping, beat-box-britney-spears breakdown (YMDT), drum machine, lack of guitar based songs , lack of great guitar licks, solo's, jams, and the lack of basic emotion and deep sound that the band is capable of is nowheres to be found on SU, nowheres.

The one plus of the band lately IMO has been Butch. I say they need more 'clean' piano on tracks though and bring back Reynolds and Lillywhite or Harris

long rant, thanks if you read it

Thank God someone mentioned Tim Reynolds. I think a lot of people forget what a major presence he had in the big three albums. Just listen to a song like Rapunzel, without his guitar work in the background the song wouldnt be nearly as interesting.

actually it kind of is. no matter how much we hate the albums, they are the band. they're not going to change what they want to do...they're the band ya know? as much as i would like them to go in a different direction, i know they're not going to decide to do it because of appsy, appfro, blanket dog, or american mitch. (yes, i have alter ego's). we as fans can either support, or walk away.
