Completely agree. They were always best when the songs were centered around Dave's guitar part since it is without question he is the most talented songwriter in the band.

I dont want them to feel like fans have turned on them, or like we hate the material. I just want them to know that their best work was with lillywhite and they need to make amends and give it another go to see if they still have that majic in them.
thats the only way i see it can happen, a petition wont work, letters either, a crowd chant is the only way theyll know.
lol. i dont know that a crowd chant will make them suddenly want to do go back to lillywhite

but ya, i think that article describes probably the majority of peoples feelings on this forum (including mine). As simple as that...

Yeah I hate that. One of the things I was really excited about for SU was that I would have a chance to learn 12 new guitar parts and instead I got maybe 4 songs that Dave actually plays the whole way through, and even those aren't fun at all.

gah, come on, this article is nothing new. i think alot of fans are still hung up on BTCS and whatnot. Busted Stuff was a fucking great album, no doubt, it just gets overlooked because we hadthe LWS. But look what we got from it, YNK, one of the bands most epic songs.

this guy needs to move along with the times. stop holding his breath. they are changing. personally, i like the new album alot. granted it's not as good as BTCS but it is certainly a great album.

get over it guys.

I do like Busted Stuff, its just that I like the LWS a whole lot more. If the LWS never leaked BS would be right up there with the other 3 albums. I am however hesitant to call SU a great album, to me it is very mediocre. Maybe if they roadtested these songs initially and then went into the studio to record them fully evolved it would be a better album, but as is SU just doesn't cut it for me.

Initially, that made me think of the LWS->BS. I agree that LWS is better, but after it leaked, they started playing most of those songs live. Had lots of time to road test them and perfect them. That said, BS should have been a lot better than LWS.

Because it's different doesn't make it good.

But bad lyrics, no creativity, and no redeeming musical qualities do make it bad.

and because it's different doesn't mean it's bad, once again. i never said it was good because it was different.

well then what does make it good? becasue to me it lacks a lot of what i love about DMB and their previous albums.... i mean bands are allowed to make bad albums just as they make good ones... to me SU just isnt up to snuff

nailed it on the head. evolving is great, but this isnt evolving...from BTCS to Busted Stuff, that was evolving...the song style is noticably different yet still what you love about dmb...then to get to the recording session of SU, it was totally different and not what i love about dmb. obviously with the live versions we are seeing the direction the songs could have gone with a different producer or maybe a different context/mindset in the studio

want to put another hundo on it?

the last three albums sound flat to me, nothing special still good music, but only in comparison to the other marginally talented bands that flood the music scene. it just seems like they arent approaching the new albums as going in and doing something great, they are running through the motions.
