neon is pissing me the hell off need help

lol. learning stream might be just a little harder than Neon.

as for perfectionism, i definitely know what you mean, DropD-MB. if i don't get something sounding right, it bugs me if i put it away for too long.

practice is definitely a mantra you hear from EVERYONE who has played guitar for an prolonged amount of time, but it's really the only way to improve, and it's always gradual.

i think i'm at a stasis right now...looking for more stuff that's not too hard but will help me get up there.

I have been learnign this song for about a week now... I am only at the point were I can string the whole verse at about 1/4 normal speed.... the key is to get into a picking rhytthm. Mayer pick with thumb and pointer only in a alternating fashion... I got this from mayer board:

Slight alterations of course through out the progression (as well as the entire song) of course, but if you can get this pattern down, you've got it. By the way, don't forget the quick sweep he occasionally throws in for this part:

I am still not sure about the different slaps and crap but hope this helps.. I definitly got me started going
