classical gas

Post by borocks »

I was wondering if anyone can play that decently...

I got tabs from a friend who plays it quite well and I want to tackle this tune too.
Any suggestions how I should proceed to learn it?
because it seems pretty hard at first..
how should I get at it to get started?

this is a good song to start off finger picking

use propering fingering

thumb gets E A D strings
index gets G
middle gets B
and ring gets E

start it off slow and keep the rhythm
once you can play it well slow speed it up

Its really not that hard of a song once you get all the progressions memorized. Very fun to play though

hmm. some of it looks a bit weird... for instance the plain chords after the chorus. there, he plays some crazy stuff with bass notes and all which is not tabbed out.

Actually I don't find it that easy to play and definitely not a song to get started with fingerpicking.

While it's not a beginner's song, it's definetly not too difficult. Great song to play, since it's a classic and everyone knows it.

Ever heard the version by the California Guitar Trio? Now *that's* good stuff.

i used the powertabs tab for this...really good because you can slow it down and listen to it while learning it.

I was actually on here tonight to ask a question about one of the fingerings and saw this thread, so I'll just ask it here.
How do you all play this part (different from the tab that somebody posted on here)

E|---0-------------1--------
B|--------1------------1----
G|------------0------------2
D|---------------------------
A|---------------------------
E|---3-------------1---------

I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to get the part starting with 1xxxx1 (not the first 3 notes). Do you just bar the first fret and use the ring to play the Bb). That seems like my best bet so far.

Everybody else trying to learn the song...check out:

http://www.powertabs.net and you have to download some tab software, but it is great and they have a lot of music on there.[/code]

play it like an F chord. Bar your pointer finger across the 1st fret, then your pinkie and ring on the 3rd frets of the a and d strings and then the middle finger on the 2nd fret of the g sting.

Could also use your thumb for the low F. Wrap it around the neck.
