Im listening to storytellers and I dont think he goes back to the 8 on the b string but just repeats the pattern after that 3 times.

He plays the B string atleast once,I'm sure of that. Not sure how many times after that he repeats it.

studio it sounds as if the riff ends on the b string and goes to the verse.

he definitely plays the 8 on the b string.. listen to it closely, its very quick just like purl's tab shows
