the fact that Baston did a HORRIBLE job producing this album shouldnt even be debated or in question. it is a fact, when opinions are at 100%, then it becomes fact.

but honestly, if the band thought ti was shit then they wouldnt have released it.

I mean that from the sounds of the part where Dave's vocals come in, this could have been a complete song, that they just chopped down to what it is on the CD. I think from what we were given on the CD, the entire song, if it was one to start, would have been great.

I disagree completely

I think, that through better production, this album would have been stupendous, and the only thing taking away from it is the electronic synth beats, overproductioned, Carter's vocals on ODH, etc....

and dave's lyrics on dreamgirl. i cant get over the fact that the guy who wrote dreamgirl also wrote the likes of seek up, the stone, ants, two step, dont drink the water, bartender...all of his songs before dreamgirl were good lyrics-wise (in my opinion).

oh and since when did just 4 chords stop something from being a song? isnt proudest monkey on Crash?

i dont anyone is really to blame, the band members individually have changed a LOT since Crash and Before These Crowded Streets were released

IMO, the songs suffer when they become too political in content.

dave's best songs are songs written about love, death, life, etc.

when we're being told to "stand up" and "Everybody wake up"...it doesn't do anything for me personally.

stolen away, dreamgirl, steady as we go...those are my favorites from the latest album.

I say they should "circle it up" and crank out some tunes of old.

I agree with the point that lyrics suffer when written about political shit. It actually seems very arrogant to me when successful musicians write about that stuff. They hardly live in the same existence as non-multi millionares. And I'm sick of everyone blaming Batson for SU. DMB likes this album. Hopefully with some hindsight they will realize they may have strayed too far from the sound that brought them all this fame and return to the old ways.

how do you know? i mean, obviously they like it enough to release it, but you think theyd do an interview and say they dont like what they just did? obviously we dont know the whole/real story, but from the looks of the dvd, it is batsons influence that created all these sample loops, beat machines, and stupid hip hop sounding chants and voices

Well, now that Dave is playing it on tour without Batson being there...and it is exactly the same, you are wrong.
