I tempted fate... and WON!

Post by MWR »

After reading everywhere that a strap button should be installed by a luthier, I went ahead anyway and did it myself. It was pretty easy too. I don't think I got the posistion exact but its secure and close enough. I was really sketched out at first but I realized how simple it really is. Luthiers probably get a kick out of making ten bucks each time they do it.

If my guitar was worth more and wasn't already beat up I would have paid the money.

i would never tell someone to do something they weren't comfortable with, but honestly, it is so easy that ten bucks is really a huge rip.

it takes all of 1 minute to actually do and they make ten bucks. seriously rediculous.

Yes, I've done it myself to all three of my guitars. It's seriously harder to get the thing out of it's package than it is to install on the guitar. :)

i want to get a button installed on my guitar (or guitars), but my guitar shop says that it'll cost $20. is that really too much, cause i see people saying they've gotten it for 5? Should I try to install it myself?

Good for you, glad it worked out well.

To me, not like my axe is way expensive, but I'd cough up the 10 bones just because if Johnny Luthier fucks it up I have some sort of recourse whereas I fuck it up I'll just beat my head into the wall.

the vaginal fluid they are secreting is the same composition of urine minus the uric acid and phosphorous. i learned that in 11th grade anatomy. btw, sometimes it does have a FAINT smell of Pizzle.

drilling a straight hole by hand, with just a hand drill is actually quite hard. Im assuming at most factories they have a drill press to put the hole in perfect and straight.

if its a $300 guitar, i say go for it. If you fuck up, that would suck, but in the same regard, if you succeed you'll feel more pride in your guitar that you worked on it.
