haha, mechanical is what my dad teaches, and its usually grad students too.
is he looking for grad students for next year perhaps? what type(s) of research does he do? i'm interested in a billion things, but primarily any applications of MEMS ("MicroElectricalMechanical Systems")

nah i just graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, 3 weeks ago. UMCP is the main campus. When people say "University of Maryland" that is the campus they are referring too. hopkins has a good engineering program though

drakemh wrote:Fat, i'm having trouble with the tapping part in phunkdafied. Is the tab on mxtabs correct on that part? Specifically, the notes on the high e string. The tab says to tap them, then pull off to the open high e, but that doesn't sound right. Do you fret the high e somewhere else? In the video is seems Justin's hands are doing more than what the tab suggests.
yes, you are supposed to pull off, but it should happen more as a consequence of tapping rather than a deliberate pull-off. you should be tapping so hard that when you release your finger off the fret, the string should continue vibrating.

i got a question for ya.

i have an old recording of warehouse, and at the beginning dave says "this song's in Bm...i know that one for sure, cause timmy said so."

then you hear timmy (yes, hear him) say "it's really in Eb..."

ummmm............what?

no, but when you're at a jam session and they start playing something you haven't learned yet, then you're fucked

Why does my pee come out all wrong when I pee with morning wood? I gotta go Me, Myself and Irene (eg. use a mirror to deflect it).

ok, here's my question. i've been playing guitar for about 2 and half years. now my music is more folky/rock. most of my stuff is pretty simple open chord progressions. ive never really been that interested in learning theory since i haven't really needed to. but no one in my group of friends really knows how to solo so i figured i'd learn some scales that i can just mess around with. now what type of scales should i learn? i just started larning major scales and was wondering if thats probably the best for me to learn, or if i should go pentatonic or something. mind you i don't really want to get myself tangled up in theory about modes and all that stuff. so what do you suggest?

i'm not fatjack, but i learned major scale and pentatonic. if you know the major you know all you need to know. you just gotta learn how to use it from there. unfortunately i haven't gotten that far yet :(
