guitar tracks pro cakewalk HELP

ok I got that program on my computer to record songs. But when I record a song it only keeps like the first half or so. Does anyone have this program? Does anyone know how to fix this? Basically if anyone has any tricks or tips on how to operate this program i would be very grateful. thanks

So it only records the first half?

Well it is probably your sound card. It might be dropping out in the middle of recording, or dropping out in the middle of playing making you think that it doesnt keep it all. Whenever a drop out happens a red thing shows up at the bottom of the screen. Check for that.

If it is that, then see how much space is on your hardrive. For me around 1.5 gb of free space works well.

If that doesnt work you might need a new soundcard. But first go through the settings and make sure there isnt anything you missed.

The demo versions let you record for as long as you want, just you cant save it.

hmm well thanks for the sugestion, Im running the program on a dell inspiron 8500, with about 20 free gigs.. It seems odd that it would be the sound card because it makes a perfect recorging up until it cuts off. But I dont know a whole lot about this, im new to the whole home recording thing. I will have time to mess around with it later on this afternoon. thanks and if anybody has any other ideas, please share.. thanks again

It could still be your sound card.

Is there any way that I could check to see if my sound card is not working right or strong enough, like some kind of test?

If it is the soundcard, where would I go about looking for one that would work? Im sorry for being so computer stupid, thanks for the help!

On the lower right hand corner of the program should be two bars. One should say cpu and the other should say disk. Whenever one reaches the max then it will drop out. If the disk reaches max then you dont have enough free space, if cpu then its your sound card. If you have 20 free gigs it shouldnt be your disk (i have run it with only one gig of space). So when playing back the recording watch that bar to see if it goes pretty high and drops out.

Whats happens, at least on mine, is that the sound card is trying to send so much information to the speakers at one time and gets a little jammed and causes a drop out. There should be some information on the help menu about that.
