You can't just go from point A to F...you've gotta start from the beginning...

coming soon... the theory behind tim's solos so that you dont have to play his solo verbatum but if you understand his theory (the plan is to do a "theory grimoir" style and to do a theory section in Laman's terms .. hehe spelling.. yuck) you can do whatever you wish if you want to keep that style...

I don't know. I'm not a lead guitarist. my guess would be, oh I dunno, play around in the scale of the chords that's being played, or maybe even the Fifth of the chord that's being played. If the rhythm section is on F, than the lead guy would fool around on the F scale or maybe even in Bb or maybe in Dm which is the relative minor of F (they share the same key signature.

F scale - notes are: F G A Bb C D E
Bb scale - notes are: Bb C D Eb F G A
Dm scale - notes are: D E F G A Bb C

notice the similarities in the notes. that's the natural Dm scale. the harmonic minor scale has the leading tone sharpened by a semi tone so that's its a C# instead of C. and in melodic minor scale, both 6th and 7th scale degrees are sharpened by a semi tone. that's the sub mediant and leading tone respectively. the melodic minor trys to mimic the major scale, where as the natural minor has a more sombre, melancholy sound to it.

damn, I made a mistake in the post just above. the fifth of F is C, and not Bb. Bb is a perfect 4th above F, and I guess that'd also work but the notes of the C major scale are, C D E F G A B that was easy.

nobody wants to work for anything these days, they just want it to be handed to them on a silver platter, it's sad...
