Dave doin message in a bottle?

Post by Davehasbangs »

Something like two years I remember hearing this insane version of that classic, and everyone said it was dave matthews. The chords are up his alley, but did he really do it? If it was he played the riffs very very fast which almost made it sound not so familiar but great.
Dave's style is very unique. He uses his pinky.

Dave/DMB has never covered this song. John Mayer covers it quite a bit, although it's not much faster than the Police version, so I'm not sure that's the one you're referring to.

Machine Head did a nice cover, though I can't imagine that is a band many people listen around here so I doubt this version is what you are refering to.

I think Incubus have done it too. But I don't see how anyone could mistake DMB with Incubus...

Yea, no I know it wasnt john mayer. its almost too common for him to use that slap technique everywhere( any given thrusday). I thought it was dave because of the picking. that was awhile ago though. I could have easily mistaken his technique for someone elses.

Incubus? No im sure it wasnt them, I never liked that miserable but trying to be very earthly and tan thing.

Some have said that the riff to this song is similar to Satellite.

I think more in terms of the stretches and the staccato notes.
