Thanx for the suggestions in my other thread in the info in this one.

I ended up just buying one of the new special additions Martin D-15 Solid Rosewood back and Sides and Solid Spruce top to hold over until I get the Taylor 810ce next year. I got a good deal on it right around $500 at a local shop with a trade on some other equipment.

Thats a pretty nice deal

And that D-15 Rosewood can probably do more than just hold you over for an 810.

Tell us how is the D-15 Spruce/Rosewood compared to a D-28?

Definitly will do. He didn't have in stock so I should have it within a week. I'm quite curious myself.

From the specs on the guitar I think it should sound similar. The major differences are the bracing, visual apointments, Fretboard and bridge material.

I played one in the store and it sounded nice. I actually really like Maghoney guitars but figured I would go with the special edition Rosewood so that I can have a poor mans D-28.

I just got my D-15 special edition in today and all I can say is WOW!!!!

I always thought Martins were overpriced until today. This $800 Martin sounds 10x better then my $1400 Yairi that had $300 of work done on it including bone saddle and nut. I honest to god can't beleive this. The thing sounds 90% comparable to the D-28s I played in the store I shit you not. I guess its not a surprise since its the same wood and most of the differences besides bracing are cosmetic.

I'm sure many people will not beleive this (I know I wouldn't if someone told me) so if you ever get a chance try one of the new D-15's out with the Rosewood sides and back and compare it to the D-28. I'm just happy to have a guitar with some bass now.
