The arguement? DMB managed to pull new listeners in and is willing to wait for old ones to fall in love with SU too.

I've like SU since I first put it in. Stand Up, LB, and SAWG had to grow on me, but I don't skip any tracks because like Check was saying, they're awesome.

Your right, non DMB fans do like this album. My g/f cant really get into the old stuff to much like Two Step, Seek Up , TLS, DDTW etc but she really likes this new album. So yeah, this will widen the DMB fan base. I also remember reading Baston wants this album to be the one that helps them crack Europe too. Heres hoping!

ok, well when i first got it i loved it, listened non stop for a week, then i though "this is over produced, rushed, and not very good" so i set it aside, 2 weeks later after almost no listening, i love it again... hmmmm.

I kinda got that way as well, although I had to set it aside during finals week because I had Steady as We Go playing in my head the whole time and it was depressing me to no end.

I can only listen to some of the songs. I think they rushed the production of the CD way too much. The CD just isn't what I was expecting and I was disapointed with the final outcome. But I have to say, Old Dirt Hill (Bring that beat back) makes me wanna dance

im kind of backing off of it now, for a while i really liked it now, the more i listen the more rushed and half ass it seems. all this cd really did was make me go back and listen to the old stuff, and it makes this cd seem really average

I've been so back and forth with this cd. I loved it at first, then I hated it, liked it again, hated it and now I've just settled on the fact that this is a painfully average album. There are some nice spots on it, and there are also some horrid spots on it. All in all I'm tremdously disappointed. After listening to X&Y, the music on it is so complex. There are intro's, verse's, prechorus', chorus', bridges and outro's on just about every song. You can tell these songs took them a long time to write and perfect. On the other hand listen to Stolen Away or Smooth Rider, the rhythm is so mind numbingly simple that you can tell the CD was rushed and they did indeed, just like Dave said, not spend a whole lot of time on any of the songs. I just wish DMB would get back to working their asses of in the studio again instead of taking the easy way out by hiring kiss ass producers who are just thankful to even be there in the first place.

Yeah it is a shame. They still have it in them, its just a matter of finding another producer who will push them to be their best again. The problem is I think they have all become very lazy, and know that they can get by with half-assing it. And these stupid music critics are letting them get away with it. Rolling Stone actually gave Stand Up a better rating than both BTCS and X&Y

Can anyone explain that to me?

easy Rolling Stone doesnt know shit about shit. they know they can sell a new album no matter what the quality. they could record dave taking a shit for 40 minutes, break it into 12 tracks and sell it, and i would probably buy it unless it leaked early and i found out.

I know they suck, but the average music fan who just skims their reviews and looks at the ratings is going to be influnced by what they see. So if you are a casual fan and want to start listening to DMB you should listen to Stand Up before you listen to BTCS according to them. I guess I'm trying to say that they are hurting the band by them not knowing what the hell they are talking about.
