a horrible day for guitar players

This is the place to talk about guitar playing not done by Dave! Topics about techniques, styles, theory, and other guitarists go here.

a horrible day for guitar players

Post by Pickles »

first period this kid had his yamaha and people were playing stuff....

the kid who owned the guitar was pretty good... plays well with fingerpicking and faster stuff.. the others though... argh...

one kid asked for it... what did he start to play? powerchords! he even struggled with those! he buzzed all the time. it was awful.

the next kid asked for it... he was like "ill play a little dave matthews..." and he started playing crash into me.... crappily i might add... he didnt even use the 5th fret... sigh...

then came my turn.... i didnt have a pick but i made do with a kids ID card.. i started playing the stone and it sounded as good as i could make it without a proper pick...

people liked it and one kid was like "is that sum 41?"

sigh.... what a horrible day for guitar players

You should have punched that last kid in the face. Meh, or maybe not, but still I hate it when people say stuff like that, but sometimes it can't be avoided.

Hey, using the 5th fret hurts like a bastard! But I get what you are saying. I would never have even picked up that Yamaha in the first place with my limited skills...I'm always fearful that some experienced player is gonna disapprove. I still don't think its right for me to say "I play guitar" instead of "I'm learning to play guitar". There's a big difference in my mind. I can't wait until I'm respectable :)

if that opportunity ever comes up again shane, don't take it! i hate playing for people who dont know a damn about music or try to tell you what to play and its some shitty song you've never even heard of...

Yay! I have been fingerpicking like crazy lately. I'm gonna get me a classical guitar strickly for fingerpicking.

ive got a similar story from this morning at school, a kid one grade lower than me brought a guitar to school, (a $100 fender) and was playing some really dumb things and havin fun then one of my band mates blurted out that i was pretty good and suggested i play classical gas!!!!! a song i learned 2 days ago!!!!! and when i got done and looked up there had to be 100 kids and teachers standing there watching me!!! good thing none of them ad really heard the song cause i played a pretty crappy cover...... but it still was pretty cool and the chicks liked it:D
