Alternate chord voicings for "Stay" ?????

Was just playing around last night with a kid I just met... discussing some Dave and showing off our dave song arsenals, when he moved on to playing "stay"... he played an entirely different seyt of chords, no muting, open strings...just a different voicing. But it sounded 10x better solo than compared to what dave actually plays???

Anyone know any alternate methods of playing this song??

yep, i do it the way the second guitar part plays it on the Cd. it sounds pretty much the same as the other part, but it sounds a lot better by itself...

is there a tab for the other version? I really like the regualr Dave style, but what's up with this one?

i got it from the before these crowded streets sheet music book, it has the regular version in their too, but i just learned the other one

From what I remember, he started out playing:

e:--------x------
B:--------7------
G:--------8------
D:--------9------
A:--------x------
E:--------x-------

as the first chord....

And I'm assuming moving down to:

e:--------x------
B:--------5------
G:--------6------
D:--------7------
A:--------x------
E:--------x-------

for the second???

That sounds like that's up a half step.

yeah, you got the first chord right, but the shape changes and there is a lot of muting after that...
