Mutes on Grey Street Intro

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Mutes on Grey Street Intro

Post by TheGuyThatJaneLikes »

Apparently there's a "certain way" to hit the mutes, and based on the fact that it doesn't sound quite right to me when I play it, I'd be willing to bet I'm doing it wrong.

So could someone please fill me in on the right way to play it? Is it it palm or finger mutes? If it's finger mutes, what fingers?

Thanks.

use the finger that is fretting the notes on the e string to mute the a and d strings, just let your finger touch the strings lightly so that it deadens the sound

For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again

Thanks, guys, it sounds much better, now. Too bad I still haven't gotten my guitar fixed so it sounds like Grey Street being played out of a bee's ass.

Let your d string ring if playing solo/on a six string. It'll sound better.

or tune to EADGAD and use barre chords for the chorus and strum straight through
