I dont think people are saying the music itself is hard, its just the feel and way he plays it. To get the exact same sound.dmbguitar718 wrote:haha. everyone here acts like dave's music is terribly tough to play. it's not. pleeease get over that.HCHaikuWarrior wrote:you do sound cocky, and no you couldn't. you're very good, but based on above statements, i don't think so,dmbguitar718 wrote:I'm really not trying to be a dick or sound cocky, but there's quite a few that I could replace him on.

I dont know, there are quite a few songs that I would feel confident playing with the band and all, but I would never say I can play "just like Dave".

and thats a record, put tim playing dave's stuff live it just wouldn't have the feel. tim doesn't have the same fluid wrist motions of dave. yes tim is godly, but again he can't play dave's stuff like dave doesn.hcole wrote:tim replaced him on uttad (maybe crash also, I can't remember).HCHaikuWarrior wrote:no one can replace dave, he wrote the music and has been playing it for 20+ years.
no way.
way.
no way.

Dave's music isn't hard to play really. It's hard to make it sound just like he does, which is what this thread addresses. This isn't a "Who Can Play DMB songs?" thread. It is one asking if you could replace Dave Matthews himself, on stage, and not have people notice. I guarantee I would notice if anyone here switched places.

You say "ohh well it won't have the same feel..." What the hell does that mean anyway? You're going to tell me that if someone with above average talent on the guitar sat down and played PFWYG perfectly, you would notice because of "the feel"?
"no way."
Oh, and +5 dick points.

...um. wow. please give me a call when you want to move onto sucking a new dick. i'm sure dave's will get old at some point.HCHaikuWarrior wrote:and thats a record, put tim playing dave's stuff live it just wouldn't have the feel. tim doesn't have the same fluid wrist motions of dave. yes tim is godly, but again he can't play dave's stuff like dave doesn.hcole wrote:tim replaced him on uttad (maybe crash also, I can't remember).HCHaikuWarrior wrote:no one can replace dave, he wrote the music and has been playing it for 20+ years.

and tim has played dave's stuff live numerous times.
if dave were with us, he would be the first to say that tim could play everything he can in his style, and while doing so, do it better than him.
That's nearly the dumbest thing I've read here in a while.HCHaikuWarrior wrote:and thats a record, put tim playing dave's stuff live it just wouldn't have the feel. tim doesn't have the same fluid wrist motions of dave. yes tim is godly, but again he can't play dave's stuff like dave doesn.hcole wrote:tim replaced him on uttad (maybe crash also, I can't remember).HCHaikuWarrior wrote:no one can replace dave, he wrote the music and has been playing it for 20+ years.

Could I replace Dave...not at all, but he couldn't replace me either.
