Question

I keep breaking my guitar strings when I'm putting new ones on......why the hell does this keep happening? I get so pissed off everytime, so try and help a brotha out.

Is it when you are tuning them, or when you are putting them through the pegs??? I'm sure someone here can help if you are just a tad more specific.

There's a few websites on the net that've got to explain the restringin process... search around on google.

Ummmm, i get the strings on fine but then when im tighten them and try to tune the guitar they snap

and what guitar/tuners? i tuned a friend of mines carlo robelli and the tension on the g string was so tight that before i even got it to the right pitch it snapped. they have horrible tuners.

Well they aren't in tune when they snap but they are tightened beyond what they should be i guess......and I use elixar mediums or lights

it might be the tuner i dont know what type it is but its real shitty

Yeah, sometimes if you are tuning the strings and using a lil electronic tuner like myself, you can do that if you aren't careful. Sometimes it will say that you need to tune more when you really don't. Don't tighten the strings, then tune them. Keep your tuner on, and every two or three whole turns on your pegs, pick that string. Keep on doing that, it might take a lil longer, but you wont break them. If you arent using a tuner like mine, just ignore this.

Tune the Low E.. then do the rest by ear

Yeah im using a tiny tuner like that but i dont know what it is because i leave the tuner on when im tightening the strings? Oh maybe this will help when im tightening at first sometimes it will pop or something and drop like an octave and i have to start over? I dont know what thats about

about that popping noise, i get that too. for me it has been the end of the string that you place in the bridge isn't totally tightened, so it makes that popping noise which is when it scrapes against the bridgepin as its locking in place so to speak, that make any sense?
