Thread not neccessary, theres a thousand string threads, about d'addarios and elixirs especially.

And yes, they suck.

OK, I'll make it unique. I went to my guitar store to get some Elixir .12's, but they were out. The guy said "Here, try these!" "Ok, I guess. Will I notice a difference?" "Not at all, they're basically the same thing."

well of course they're not the same thing - they're totally different - elixers coat the outside, d'adds exp coat the inside i think - if you're used to playing elixers then of course you'll dislike d'adds

yea but you have to prefer one over the other. it's like the martin/taylor debate. you have to have a preference.

I played with elixirs for about 3 years. But for the past two months i have been getting EXP's.. and they are growing on me. And they are cheaper

i really dunno....they're so different...i find EXPs easier and more comfortable to play w/, but Elixirs have some very good basses...really dunno

elixers suck, they make every guitar sound the same since there is so much coating. They sound like plastic. D'addario EXP 80/20 Phospher bronze strings have less coating, and in my opinion, sound ten times better than elixers. After 8.5 years of playing, and 3 yrs of steady gigging, and hundreds and hundreds of string changes, In fact, i change my strings at least once a week., i am a firm supporter a Daddarios EXP's, customlights (.11). Word.
