Like everyone else says, keep stretching. I would recommend playing the songs with the fingerings Dave has, I think he plays them that way for a reason. Remember that he plam mutes on a lot of stuff, remember he usually mutes a lot of stuff too. Also work on stuff like Satellite and #34 to get your hands stretching a bit farther. Welcom and good luck.

He mutes pretty much everything he plays, any open space between chords, like on the Song That Jane Likes. He pretty much constantly strums everthing. He mutes like crazy on The Stone too, I can't play that one like him yet. He also palm mutes on a few songs, and he palm mutes a lot when he is solo.

does he mute the verse on the stone? i have a video of him muted everystring during the chorus, and i can do that, but i dont extra mute any verse
For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again

I have seen him play it both ways. I think he mutes it more when the band comes in.

Thanks, I wasn't sure which muting Dave preferred. My palm muting is pretty good and my finger muting isn't, but they could both use some work.

I also have small hands and it just takes some getting use to, for some songs i rearrange the chords, sometimes i skip some notes (like in tripping billies) but for the most part you just gotta muster the pain until it goes away

I thought damping and finger muting were pretty much the same thing?

Also, what notes do you drop on TB?

With most things, I figured the old "practice makes perfect" adage worked eventually, so would it be necessary? I barely ever played TB in my life and can't remember much of it.

I only drop the stretch on E (D2) and the C# (G6) on the verse riff, not because i cant reach, but because it slows down my timing too much, sounds fine just hitting the C# and B but i agree, work on it long enough i wont have to anymore
