Want to ask about strings, maintenance, amps, mics, or comparisons of different guitars or any music equipment? This is for all threads related to music equipment.
It was a suprise gift and I absolutely love the sounds I get out of it. I had a question though. I currently only have a bass amp and I really want to get a decent acoustic amp for this. Any ideas?
Thanks!
EDIT: Damn, I just did a search on ovations.. they don't seem to be really favored around here. Oh well I suppose, I like it

This guitar has a solid Sitka Spruce top with Mahogany neck and Imbuia back and sides. Imbuia is a Brazillian tonewood with tonal properties between Rosewood and Maple (according to my well versed double-bass luthier). I use Elixir medium gague Nanoweb strings and have a Fishman Accoustic Matrix Natural II pickup installed.
I find that the resonance on this instrument is most striking. After hitting a standard G chord, I have clocked the reverb within the guitar at almost 2 minutes! I ALWAYS get enough sound from it and am consistently amazed at the balance of tone regardless of the strength at which I strum or the delicacy with which I fingerpick.
The Taylor tuning gears are remarkable, and offer ultra-fine adjustments with the guitar staying in tune even after over an hour of hard jamming.
The Fishman pickup, in my opinion, really does a good job of capturing the sound of this guitar. Depending on the amp, this is helped or hindered, but with a good accoustic amp and my Fishman Platinum pre-amp/EQ, the result is very pleasing (thought the Expression system IS amazingly sweet and better).
Taylors usually have a reputation for being quite good in higher registers but lacking a little in the bass end, but I find this to not apply to my instrument. According to my bass luthier, the woods on my guitar allow the bass register to sing while still preserving the pure highs commmon on most Taylor instruments.
I hope this has helped!

My baby and only thing I own worth anything . It's a Martin DR. I like the way it plays alot. It has a rather crisp sound because of the laminated rosewood but even still the bass has quite a bit of sustain. It plays pretty nice.
My next guitar is going to be a taylor 714ce :D:D.[/img]
thanks ... The capo on it is red and i bought the capo about 2 months before buying the guitar. i got the guitar home and got the capo out and was suprised and delighted that they both matched :D. At the time of purchase i didn't even think about it.
I have an old guild M-20 from '67 i believe, a small guitar. It sounds AMAZING, better than any acoustic ive played, including taylors and martins, my guitar teacher hardly let it go during lessons, and the best part is my dad had a choice between some cash and this guitar in payment for doing electrical work for a friend, thankfully he took the guitar, and here I am with it long after my dad stopped playing. The one on ebay right now is at $900 US with a bridge that needs fixing before it can be played.
